Historical background of “the prodigal son,” “scapegoat,” and “lion’s den.”

1. A "prodigal son" is a person who leaves home and wastes their money and time on a life of pleasure, but who later is sorry about this and returns home.

2. A "scapegoat" is a person or group made to bear the blame for others or to suffer in their place.

3. A "lion's den" is a dengerous or threatening place or situation.
